Beware Of Defective Products

Defective products can generally be defined as products that, when used properly and reasonably, malfunction in a way that results in injury or death. The products can be anything from a motor vehicle to food to medication - basically, anything a consumer can purchase and use. If you are sickened or injured by a product, the law says you have the right to seek compensation. However, there are ways to avoidsuffering the injury in the first place.

Where to get information on dangerous products

Many of us learn about a defective product only after a recall has been reported in the media, and not all recalls are widespread or high-profile enough to receive much attention. If you would like to take a proactive approach to your safety, we recommend bookmarking recalls.gov. This is an official US government site that consolidates reports from such agencies as the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), among others. By regularly checking reports on this site, you can stay abreast of risks and dangers, hopefully avoiding injuries to yourself and your family.

A few current recalls you should know about

The following is a sampling of the products currently listed as recalled or having consumer alerts:

  • Garden Fresh Foods of Milwaukee, WI: Ready-to-eat chicken and ham products, for possible Listeria contamination
  • Safety 1st (Dorel Juvenile Group): Child safety seat, for incorrect instructions on how to fasten the seat via vehicle safety belt
  • Finley Hanging Pendant Lamps (Crate and Barrel): Fixture wires present potential fire and shock hazards
  • Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Solution .083 percent (Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation):Precautionary recall due to results from internal monitoring process

Scales Of Justice: A
Constant Reminder

Attorney Jeffrey Goldberg commissioned this sculpture of the scales of justice to serve as a visual reminder of the firm's reason for being: to make sure that people who have been injured by the negligence of others are fairly represented and that they receive just compensation for their losses.
